Almost...

So. We are finally going to be moving into our new room and bathroom this week! Jerry took this week off so we could get it done. Carpet is getting installed on Tuesday, then we are ready!!! Yay.

Here's a little preview.

Jerry has done everything...and boy he does good.

The bathroom color was supposed to be an aqua color. It's a bit greener and brighter than I originally wanted but it's growing on me. Plus a lot of it is going to be covered. For now there isn't anything covering it up so it's very bright. I love my tile though for sure.

My bedroom is a dark plum/eggplant color. I love it!!! I have so many new decorating ideas that I can't wait to use.

At this moment Jerry is spraying the texture on our new bathroom walls!!

Yay!!

Then onto the paint (which I still haven't decided on).

We're getting there....slowly. But it's better than not at all.

The Eye of the Storm...

Last night...well actually this morning around 12:00 I was up feeding the babies.  I had to throw a dirty diaper away. The trash so happens to be by my back door. As I'm standing there, I hear a huge gust of wind and look up just in time to see something white, and large flying across my backyard. It only took my .5 seconds to figure out that it was a piece of sheetrock. Then another flew by. I quickly got Jerry and we got shoes and a jacket on and headed outside to see this....

Just yesterday we finally had our sheetrock delivered.  Jerry and his dad were going to haul it inside but the winds were so bad that they didn't want the sheetrock to break as they carried it inside. So, they covered it with a tarp and sat a ladder and some wood on top to hold it down.  The weather said 20mph winds. I think they were a bit off. 

Picture this...I'm sprawled out on top of this stack of sheetrock and tarp just trying to hold it down and praying that the 50mph winds don't take me with it as Jerry runs back and forth to get some cinderblocks to hold it down the rest of the night. The small rain drops, combined with the winds felt like we were getting nailed in the face with a million needles. 

However, we got the job done and only lost 2 sheets of drywall in the process. 

Now we laugh about it...but we weren't really laughing at the moment. I'd be lying straight out of my teeth if I didn't admit that a curse word or two may have come out of our mouths in the process.

Today we got some sheetrock up! I know, you're thinking. That's as far as they have gotten on this addition??? Yes it is. When your wife is on bedrest, and you have to cook and clean and take care of two boys, plus work and go to school you don't feel like building a house.  But we are back in business folks and aiming for the beginning of the NEW YEAR to have it completed. Oh let's pray it is! :)

Fun Filled Day....

Today I loved that we woke up early and got the "shell" of our addition done so that the inspector could come and then we could get going on the siding and shingles. The garage door will be taken out and replaced with a solid wall and a window to match the front right side of our house. (It is becoming our Master bedroom)

After all the hard work, Grandpa Miller informed us that they were irrigating at their house. We decided it was the PERFECT day to go play in the water. The wind wasn't blowing (for once) and it was definitely warm outside.

At first the boys were content to just run around and play in the water.





Then Grandma and Dad drilled some holes in some sleds and attached a rope and then Dad took them for rides. Needless to say, running around wasn't near as fun as these rides.




Here is Gage holding on for dear life...he learned quickly that if you let go, you go flying and get soaked. He hopped right back on there though and loved it.



Then the boys decided to try and give each other a ride while Dad was taking a rest.

I love how Kaysen's face looks in these two pictures. He was having a blast.

Dad took a 'lil slip and decided to get REALLY wet, just like the boys.

Jerry gave amazing rides by making the boys slide all over the place. Irrigation water will never be the same without these sleds.

I loved watching the boys just run around and play in the water with their Dad. He's so good at playing with them. I just wished I was able to jump in and play as hard as they were. Instead I just wandered back and forth in the refreshing water.

Kaysen had his first T-Ball game today. His team name is the "Pistols" which makes him even more excited to play. He's been counting down the days. His team has had 2 practices and he just loved it. He did a really good job and hit the ball hard all 3 times at bat and ran those bases as fast as he could.

Gage was having fun playing with the umbrella and watching Kaysen play. At first he was pretty ticked off when he was told that he couldn't play with Kaysen. The umbrella soon had his undivided attention. After the game we stopped and got shaved ice. Mmmmm...Mmmmm....Mmmmm. It was delicious and perfect for this hot day.

New Addition...

We never thought we would be adding on to this house. Yes it has only 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. However, the plan was to have our home in Show Low sold and we would be building our "dream" home by now and about ready to move in. Since we haven't sold our house, nor plan on it happening for another year at least, and we don't think it is necessary to have 3 homes we have decided to just stick it out in this home and see if/when we when to build our "dream" home.

For now this is what we get, and I must admit I am really excited for it. Our current bedroom will become the twins room. You see, we are adding on a master bathroom. Our current garage is also our storage room and laundry room. We are converting this into an actual laundry room and food storage room that is going to be 14'x10' and the other part into our master bedroom which will be 14'x20'. It's a bit confusing on how it's all going to be set up, but with time pictures will help it make sense.

Here is Jerry, his dad and Kaysen getting the rebar and plumbing together so we could get our concrete poured for where our new bathroom will be.


On Friday morning at 6:00am the cement truck arrived to pour the concrete. Thank goodness Jerry has a willling Dad and brothers to lend a hand. They sure helped a ton!


Here is the little boy that LOVES cement trucks or anything construction and was completely content just watching the guys work. Our other little boy was sound asleep and missed out on most of the action, but that's okay. He would have been wanting to jump right in anyways.



Here is the finished product...well the finished concrete at least.

See that window? It is the window to our garage and will be getting knocked out in order to become the doorway from our master bedroom to the master bathroom.

Yesterday Jerry got all 3 walls up and Kasyen loved helping him tighten the bolts to make the walls stay up. Now we just pray that this horrible wind won't blow them all over. :) As of this morning they are still standing storng!!!

So this is our new addition, making room for our two new additions that will be here before we know it. We better get workin huh??? We'll keep you posted on the rest of the renovation, so that it can make a bit more sense.

Since I've been gone...

Many exciting things have happened in the Miller home...

On New Years Eve we finally moved into our new house. Here is a picture of the living room. Without any of my decorations in place. Since this picture was taken I have covered the walls in pictures and decorations which is a good thing because I go crazy when my walls are bare.

Here is our new kitchen. (Ignore the fact that the picture is crooked.)

That is pretty much it in the photo department for now because all other rooms are not yet complete. Maybe someday I'll get around to posting them....

Also, while I was gone we celebrated Christmas!!!

We made ginger bread houses at Grandma & Grandpa Millers house. Its pretty sad to say that this is the first one I have ever made. It turned out pretty good. Especially since Jerry and I had a company dinner to go to the night this was planned so we did ours after everyone left and 90% of the candy was used/eaten. I don't know what my boys enjoyed more, making the house or eating the candy. What I do know is that they were up until 11:30 playing because they were a bit too hyped up...Ugh that was a long night!

Here are the boys in their matching Santa jammies. Kaysen thought it was sooo cool that him and Gagers matched. Now every time one of them wears them for bed he thinks the other one has to also.

We woke up Christmas morning to some pretty amazing presents. At first Kaysen just stared at his 4 wheeler and wasn't too sure if he wanted to get on...simply because he was cranky. Gage was wide awake and ready to get the day going but Kaysen wanted to keep sleeping. I was too excited to let Kaysen keep sleeping so I made him come downstairs too. As soon as Kaysen saw his black helmet hanging on the handle bars he was excited. That is what he really asked Santa for. His cousins have some helmets, more specifically a black one that is a bit too big for Kaysen, but he loves to wear it. He would sleep in it if I'd let him. He thinks it makes him go faster...and "I gotta be safe mom."

Gage hopped right on his 4 wheeler, even though he didn't have a clue how to drive it at first. We had some near fatal accidents (jk) in that small living room on Christmas morning.

Kaysen and Gage have loved living here I think. Kaysen loves that he can ride his 4 wheeler all over. We have 10 acres with no fences so he just goes & goes. He also loves that he has 16 cousins, 7 of which are his age, that he can play with all the time. He constantly asks if one of them can come over or if he can go to their house. It is great to see them have fun, even if there are a few arguments while playing.

(I love that I can see Jerry's work in the background of this picture...that means that he is only 5 minutes from work. I also love that I can see Cody and Kylie's house...that means they aren't too far away if I ever need them. I think Kylie and I both love this part. Plus we get to go walking and to volleyball together a couple days a week. I'm lovin it!)

Gage is getting better at driving his 4 wheeler, he just has zero steering capabilities. He usually rides his for 5 minutes or so then moves on to better things...at least what he calls better things.

Like...raking the dirt. I really took this picture to show what the view is out my front window. No it isn't beautiful...well except in the spring when it is all covered in green with spotted yellow, white and purple flowers...then I think that it isn't too bad. Also when I watch the sunrise coming over the hills. I tease Jerry saying that this must be the Land of Desolation the Book of Mormon speaks of...jk.

I do love that I can see this far away and know that my family has plenty of room to roam. One day Jennie and Jeremy will have a little bungalow against that hillside.

Jerry and I also celebrated our 5th anniversary!!! It is oh so crazy to think that it has been that long yet seems like it has been longer on some days. Thanks to Tia & Merrick watching our boys, we were able to go out to dinner. It was great! The past 5 years have brought us some trials but it has also been the most fulfilling 5 years of my life. I can't wait to do 5 more...at least 10 more times!!!

Also, Gage is getting sooo interested in potty training. After every incident in his diaper he runs to the toilet and has to sit on it. He also wants to wear Kaysen's big boy undies, even over his clothes. If he sees a pair hes screaming, trying to pull them on. I'm all for potty training...I just think its crazy because he is only 16 months old. I'm not going to push it...just keep him interested. Then MAYBE this summer when I'm done with school I will venture on into that department.

To sum it all up I think that ALL of us love our new home & town. It really does feel like home and where we are supposed to be. I miss Show Low and my family but know that this will be so much better for us.

Jerry has this week off and I REALLY don't know what I am going to do with myself. We have no traveling that we have to do. We can just simply work on our house HERE TOGETHER, eat meals TOGETHER and sit back and relax TOGETHER!! Its going to be GREAT!!!

We're getting there...slowly.

We finally got our cabinets last week and Jerry has almost finished putting them in. We only lack two more cabinets. I love this part of building because now I'm making the decisions. :)

This picture is closer to the actual color of our cabinets. (They are a bit brighter because the sun is shining right on them) Our camera is messing up so the next picture isn't all that great. You get the idea though...

We also started moving this past week. This is our 2nd truck full of food storage...I must say, I'm pretty proud of our food storage supply, even though we are encouraged not to be "proud."

We have taken 4 truck loads plus a trailer load of "stuff" and it doesn't even seem like we've put a dent in our moving. Oh boy...I didn't realize we had so much stuff. When we moved into this house it was just Jerry & I. We've since had two kids thus causing us to accumulate a lot more junk. The kids were worth it though! I do wonder how I am going to fit all of it in our next house?? Oh boy it is going to be crammed...but oh so worth it when there is no mortgage!!!!

a dab of color...

We are finally to the painting stage of our house. Actually we are done now. We just ordered our cabinets and will start our flooring soon. Here's a little preview of our house...

This is the view from the corner of our living room, going towards the bedrooms and bathroom. The color is Pavillion Beige. We actually got 2 sample quarts of completely differnt colors that we thought were definatly going to be "the one" but ended up hating both...thank goodness for sample quarts! I think this color turned out perfect!

This is a portion of the boys' room. The sun in the wrong spot so I couldn't get a picture of the whole wall. And me, being the impatient person I am, wanted the picture NOW not in 30 min when the sun was down. The color is "Leapfrog Green" or as Kaysen calls it DINOSAUR GREEN. Perfect for a boys room dontcha think? (Don't worry, this is an accent wall...their whole room isn't this bright!)

Now onto the bathroom...the color is called "Down Pour." It looks brighter here than it is in real life. I actually painted the extra bathroom in our current house this color and liked it so much I wanted it in the next bathroom.

This is the living room side of our dividing wall. The kitchen/dining is on the other side. This wall was the hardest one for me to chose. I REALLY wanted a deep eggplant purple but when I told most people that they thought I was NUTS so it got me second guessing myself. I'll admit when Jerry started painting this color I didn't like it. I was instantly thinking, "Why do I care what others think??? I should go with what I want!" Well its too late now and I actually LOVE the color. Now I all of my other decorations will fall into place... I hope.
