Heart Attack...

We did our family heart attack this year.

I pictured it being a loving and spirit felt night.

In stead we had two babies that were tired and hungry which resulted in constant crying.

Gage was dancing around talking about everything but love. Mostly, bums and "Astro Boy".

Kaysen was really into the whole thing. Then started throwing a fit. I can't even remember why anymore.

So I quickly bore my testimony and told them I Ioved them.

Did they hear me???

Probably not.

But I had to do it quickly before I started losing my temper and then really making the Spirit absent from our FHE.

Hopefully next year goes a bit smoother.

Here's a peak at a few of our hearts.

Armor of God...

Last night it was Kaysen's turn to pick what we did for Family Home Evening.

So he pulled out his "Who's Your Hero?" book by David Bowman.

He decided to learn about Captain Moroni. Mostly because he saw that there was a coloring activity with armor and he wanted to do it.

So Jerry prepared the lesson. He had a surprise for the boys though. They thought they just got to color a picture.

Nope.

They actually got to put armor on.

Towel = loins girt with truth
Backpack= breastplate of righteousness
Boots= feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
Pizza pan= shield of faith
Bike helmet= helmet of salvation
Sword=word of God

Then we threw marshmallows at them to show how much harder it is to get hit by the "fiery darts of the adversary" when you have on the complete armor.

They LOVED it. I'm not sure they got the complete meaning of it, but hey, we tried.

Then we headed to DQ for some delicious blizzards.

It was a fun (and delicious) F.H.E.

I'm Sorry...

Lately we've had an issue of saying I'm Sorry. Our boys with smack each other, wrestle, take things, bump each other over and many other things and won't say I'm sorry. Sometimes, many times, these happen on accident. Sometimes, they aren't. We are still trying to get them to say sorry anyways.

So for F.H.E last night it was my turn. We read a story about Barry the bear who ate all of the berries and didn't share with this other bear that wanted some berries too. Later, Barry wanted to rest by his favorite tree but his friend, a beaver, chopped it down. The beaver said sorry, but didn't really mean it. He just said it. Barry realized that he needed to say sorry to his friend that he didn't share the berries with and mean it too. So he found her, apologized and they were friends again.

For the activity we got blue pieces of paper, crinkled them into a ball and had 3 different bowls to toss them into. We played horse, except we spelled SORRY instead. It was a hit. Kaysen has already asked if we can play it for F.H.E. tonight too.

We'll have to see if the moral of the story sunk in as much as the game did.

Kaysen's F.H.E.

Kaysen learned something in Sharing Time on Sunday. They told all of the kids to take it home and teach it to their family (like they do almost every week, this week he just listened).

So on the drive home he informed me that he was in charge of Family Home Evening. I was all for it. It was my turn and I was going to do a little Easter lesson (and still did to fill a little time, but he did most of it)

You need a Styrofoam plate and plastic spoon with a picture of Jesus on the inside, salt and pepper.

First you dump the salt. Kaysen informs us that, "This is when you are clean."

"This is when you get dirty and make bad choices" he says as he pours the pepper on top of the salt.

Then you rub the bottom of the spoon on your hair "then think about the bad things you've done and ask Jesus to help you fix them."

Then you place the bottom of the spoon over the top of the pepper and the pepper will stick to the bottom of the spoon. "This is all of your bad choices disappearing, " Kaysen tells us.

He did an awesome job and was so excited about it. We'll have to let him do lessons more often.

A Day of Love

Yesterday our boys woke up to some a little surprise next to their pillow. Of course, they wanted to eat thier candies before breakfast, ( I should have known) but I was able to convince them to eat first. Yay! I was even able to convince them to have only 1 piece and to save the other for later. Such good kids!

I woke up yesterday to this handsome (and tired) guy making me and our boys some breakfast.

I'd have to say...he did a dang good job with the heart shaped pancakes. I simply make them pink when I've done them in the past. This guy has some mad skills though and made some awesome pink heart pancakes.

Honestly though. Valentine's Day just isn't a HUGE holiday in our family. I don't know why. A day about LOVE...why not celebrate it? I guess I just wish that each day is about love, not just this one. It sure was a nice change though.
So today I loved that Jerry made me breakfast.
I loved that we had a little picnic at the park and watched our boys play as we sat on a bench holding hands and talking about our life.
I loved that for F.H.E. we recorded each one of us saying at least one thing that we love about each person in our family. It will be great to look back and watch that video in a few years.

Sabbath Day...

Today I can't move my neck and my kids are just getting over their sicknesses.

Jerry is working nights and so he misses church because he needs sleep.

So, I opted to not go to church today.

My kids were confused.

Kaysen kept saying, "But Mom. Today is Sunday!"

I don't know how many times I had to explain to him that I didn't want them going to church and getting the other kids sick, incase he wasn't really over it.

He would reply, "But I don't have a fever anymore!"

Can you tell this boy loves church???

Man it makes me happy.

Kaysen gets excited when it is Sunday becasuse on this day we watch our "Sunday Movies." (the cartoon moves made by Living Scriptures.) This is the ONLY type of t.v. that is allowed on in our home on Sundays.

Gage doesn't like the rule all that much. He would much rather watch Diego, Mickey or Pablo. Each week he's getting better though and will finally pick one out when it is his turn.

On a Typical Sunday we would watch 1 or 2 before leaving for church at 12:30.

Today I think we watched at least 10.

The boys kept wanting to do other things like ride the 4 wheeler, go to the store, or play baseball. Then Kaysen would remember it was Sunday and say, "Ope. We can't do that can we Mom because it's Sunday. Man this sure is a LONG Sunday Mom."

So I pulled out my Hatch Patch F.H.E packets. I have about 10 more that I need to color, laminate and cut so we can start using them for F.H.E. My kids are finally getting old enough to understand the games...and it's making F.H.E. so much more fun.

Kaysen and Gage did a wonderful job helping me color. (no pics...oops.)

Kaysen had even more fun helping me glue some of the pieces together. They both loved watching it go through the laminator.

We did F.H.E tonight because Jerry has a basketball game tomorrow. We don't ever do F.H.E on the same night every week. That's what happens when your husband/father does shift work.

Jerry was in charge of the lesson and did it on hymns and how they can help us. He asked us to pick our favorite ones and sing them as a family.

Kaysen however wanted to sing his favorite one by himself....(ignore the messy house...it's Sunday...no cleaning :) )
