4th of july

Our family has started a new tradition of shooting shotguns on the 4th of July. Last year we skipped out on the parade because we figured it would all be political anyways. This year we couldn't skip out because my nephew Taron was on the All Star Float. So we decided to got shooting the day before.

We really had so much fun doing it. We had a little competition and Jerry did really good. He got 8 out of 10 of his skeet targets. However my Dad won with 10 for 10. I on the other hand only hit 4 out of 10...but hey it was only my 2nd time shooting. Then we did another competion of shooting 2 skeet at a time. For some reason I did way better at this one and hit 15 of 20. Jerry hit 17 and my brother in law Jerry hit 19 of 20 so he was the winner of that competition.

The next day we went to the parade where we just about fried to death.

Kaysen and Jordyn had so much fun watching everything go by.

Of course they enjoyed running after the candy the most. At first they didn't really understand what to do. We would tell them to run out and get the candy and they would slowly walk into the road and grab ONE piece. As soon as they got one piece of candy they wanted to eat it but they never had much time to finish that piece of candy before they were racing for another one.

Jerry kept Gage under the canopy to try to keep him cool. Here is Gage just trying to fight falling asleep....

As you can see....he lost the battle.


After the parade we headed over to Lacye's where we had a horseshoe tournament and played beach volleyball. There were a ton of people there but it was a really fun day. After this we headed over to my parents house and laid on thier front lawn as we watched the fireworks over our head. Kaysen fell asleep towards the end but he loved every bit of it. It was a long day but a good day.

Thank goodness we live in the U.S.A. There are times when I am nervous about the future and where our country is going...but it is still the greatest country to live in!!
